Preparation of self-cleaning surfaces with a dual functionality of superhydrophobicity and photocatalytic activity

Abstract(#br)Thin film of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) was deposited on SiO 2 nanoparticles by chemical vapor deposition, and SiO 2 became completely hydrophobic after PDMS coating. Mixtures of TiO 2 and PDMS-coated SiO 2 nanoparticles with various relative ratios were prepared, and distributed on glass surfaces, and water contact angles and photocatalytic activities of these surfaces were studied.

Abstract(#br)Recently, TiO 2 photocatalysts have been applied in various ways for outdoor air purification. The main challenge with these applications is the stability of the photocatalysts, as the surface of TiO 2 can be easily deactivated by contaminants found in outdoor environments. For example, it is difficult to remove oily contaminants with water once they are exposed to the photocatalyst surface since the hydrophilicity of TiO 2 is not sufficiently high to allow for self-cleaning.

具有智能特性的超疏水涂层因其在许多领域的广泛应用而备受关注。然而,对于同时可以通过紫外光照射和煅烧调节润湿性和附着力的超疏水涂层的研究文献较少。本研究利用非晶态SiO2微球( A-SiO2 )和纳米TiO2粒子( N-TiO2 )通过湿法研磨制备A-SiO2 / N-TiO2复合材料,然后用聚二甲基硅氧烷( PDMS )对其进行改性,并喷涂到基底表面,得到可调节的超疏水A-SiO2 / N-TiO2 @ PDMS涂层。值得注意的是,涂层对水滴的润湿性和附着力可以通过紫外光照射和煅烧来调节。对上述现象的机理进行了研究。而且,由于涂层具有光催化作用,甲基橙溶液可以被降解。所制备的涂层对不同基体和室外环境具有良好的适应性。此外,这些涂层表面对不同液滴表现出相同的液体斥力。本研究为制备先进的自清洁涂料提供了环境策略。
