Sorption, diffusion, and perm-selectivity of toluene vapor/nitrogen mixtures through polydimethylsiloxane membranes with two cross-linker densities

Abstract(#br)The sorption, diffusion, and permeation properties of toluene and nitrogen from binary gaseous mixtures were studied using polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) membranes with various cross-linker levels. The prepared PDMS membranes were characterized using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy (PALS). The PDMS made with 10:1 pre-polymer/cross-linker ratio contained a negligible amount of unreacted cross-linker.

Abstract(#br)In this communication we demonstrate a conception of an artificial microkidney using pertinent microtools that more accurately mimic organ functions in vitro . We present a technique to integrate polyethersulfone (PES) membranes usually used in hemodialysis inside a polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) microchip. The purpose of the microchip is to model glomerular filtration “on-chip”.

Preparation and characterization of vinyltriethoxysilane (VTES) modified silicalite-1/PDMS hybrid pervaporation membrane and its application in ethanol separation from dilute aqueous solution

Abstract(#br)To improve the affinity between silicalite-1 and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), the silicalite-1 particles were modified by a silane coupling agent vinyltriethoxysilane (VTES) and incorporated into polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) matrix for the preparation of silicalite-1/PDMS hybrid membranes. The modified silicalite-1 particles were examined by XRD, FT-IR and TGA, and the results showed that the silane coupling agent was bonded to the surface of silicalite-1 particles through chemical bonds and the modification did not influence the framework of silicalite-1 crystals.

Patternable solution process for fabrication of flexible polymer solar cells using PDMS

Abstract(#br)PH 500, a highly conducting poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS), is a typical conducting polymer anode material used in organic electric devices. However, it has the disadvantages of low conductivity and poor surface roughness and requires a patterning method for the electrode through including the laser and plasma. In this paper, therefore, the conducting polymer ink for a transparent anode was formulated by adding dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) and BYK-333 as the surfactant to enhance the conductivity and surface roughness.

Synergistic regulation of cell function by matrix rigidity and adhesive pattern

Abstract(#br)Cell–extracellular matrix (ECM) interactions play a critical role in regulating cellular behaviors. Recent studies of cell–ECM interactions have mainly focused on the actomyosin based and adhesion mediated mechanosensing pathways to understand how individual mechanical signals in the cell microenvironment, such as matrix rigidity and adhesive ECM pattern, are sensed by the cell and further trigger downstream intracellular signaling cascades and cellular responses.

Room temperature aerobic oxidation of alcohols using CuBr 2 with TEMPO and a tetradentate polymer based pyridyl-imine ligand

ty10086 提交于 周四, 08/26/2021 - 13:42
Abstract(#br)A series of tetradentate pyridyl-imine terminated Schiff-base ligands has been investigated for their ability in the catalytic oxidation of alcohols when combined with copper bromide (CuBr 2 ) and 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidyl-1-oxy (TEMPO). Analogous bidentate ligands showed poorer catalytic activity and the ratio of Cu:ligand was of crucial importance in maintaining high yields.

Pervaporative concentration of ethanol–water mixtures using heterogeneous polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) mixed matrix membranes

ty10086 提交于 周四, 08/26/2021 - 13:41
Abstract(#br)The PDMS mixed matrix membranes containing 10-μm sized zeolite were prepared, characterized, and tested on the pervaporation (PV) performance for ethanol–water solutions. We found that the membrane with the zeolite mixed after the PDMS cross-linker addition (“post-addition”) was more effective at removing ethanol from the aqueous mixtures than the pristine PDMS and the PDMS–zeolite membrane made with the zeolite addition prior to the PDMS cross-linker addition.

A novel sorptive extraction method based on polydimethylsiloxane frit for determination of lung cancer biomarkers in human serum

ty10086 提交于 周四, 08/26/2021 - 13:40
Abstract(#br)In this study, a porous polypropylene frit was coated with polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) as extraction medium, based on the home-made PDMS-frit, a rapid, simple and sensitive sorptive extraction method was established for analysis of potential biomarkers of lung cancer (hexanal and heptanal) in human serum samples. In the method, derivatization and extraction occurred simultaneously on the PDMS-frit, then the loaded frit was ultrasonically desorbed in acetonitrile. Polymerization, derivatization–extraction and desorption conditions were optimized.
