Abstract(#br)A composite polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS)/polyamide (PA) membrane was synthesized and sorption, diffusion and permeation of C 3 H 8 , CH 4 and H 2 were studied both in pure and mixed gas experiments. Pure gas experiments showed that, increasing transmembrane pressure increases solubility, permeability and diffusivity coefficients of heavier gases, C 3 H 8 , while does not affect or slightly decreases those of lighter ones, CH 4 and H 2 .

Abstract(#br)The multicomponent solubility of mixed liquid species in crosslinked poly(dimethyl siloxane) (PDMS) films was determined with a gravimetric method at 35\u003cce:hsp sp=\"0.25\"/\u003e°C. The series of binary liquid mixtures considered is formed by one non volatile and one volatile component: the latter can be acetone, n-pentane or tert-butanol. Acetone and n-pentane were mixed, separately, with vegetable oil and oleic acid; acetone has been also mixed with squalene and n-pentane with n-eicosane, while tert-butanol was mixed with poly (ethylene glycol) (PEG) 400.

This paper describes a procedure to measure the permeability P , diffusivity D, and rate of adsorption k\u003csub\u003e1\u003c/sub\u003e , thus determining the solubility S and rate of desorption k\u003csub\u003e2\u003c/sub\u003e of He, N\u003csub\u003e2\u003c/sub\u003e, O\u003csub\u003e2\u003c/sub\u003e, CH\u003csub\u003e4\u003c/sub\u003e, and CO\u003csub\u003e2\u003c/sub\u003e on a polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) membrane. The described procedure is able to determine experimentally all the physical quantities that characterize the gas transport process through a thin rubber polymer membrane.
